NKCES is Hiring a School-Based Mental Health Provider Near Cold Spring, KY

Position Title: School-Based Mental Health Provider

Responsible To: Regional Programs Principal

Qualifications/Certifications:

Any combination equivalent to: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field, or Kentucky certificate for School Guidance Counselor, School Psychologist, or School Social Worker and two years successful experience in working with youth/adolescents in social service delivery, therapeutic or educational setting

Preferred Experience:

● Education or work experience in data collection and analysis for use in problem-solving.

● Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.

● Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

● Ability to work independently with little direction and with diverse populations

● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to promote positive relationships.

● Ability to provide collaborative leadership in a team of mental health service providers

● Experience working with youth/adolescents in therapeutic or educational setting, or social service delivery

General Responsibilities:

Provide therapeutic and counseling services to students at RSP; and deliver crisis intervention and response for the Regional Programs.

Specific Duties:

● Counsels' students, individually and in group sessions, to assist in adjusting to life and

making changes. Maintains confidentiality of records.

● Guides students in the development of skills and strategies to cope. Encourages them to

express their feelings and to discuss what is happening in their lives and helps them develop insight into themselves and their relationships.

● Collects information through interviews, observations, and tests. Prepares and maintains

treatment records and reports.

● Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. Acts as a student advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

● Provide crisis intervention for students when needed and collaborate with teachers and staff

● Maintain and complete appropriate records for crisis management (seclusion/restraint) and incident response

● Attend training, workshops, and conferences (as applicable and approved by supervisor) to maintain awareness of current information and best practices.

● Assist or provide training for staff regarding therapeutic interventions/de-escalation

strategies and supports

● Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Designee

Employment period: One year contract, 205 contract days

Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience on the NKCES salary schedule including 20 extended days and half of the crisis intervention annual stipend.
