Shipping & Receiving Clerk

The shipping and receiving clerk is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments of goods. This includes receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material and arranging for the transportation of products to designated locations.

They also prepare items for shipment, including packing, labeling, and ensuring that orders are accurate and properly documented.

Salary : $18-19 / hr

Responsibilities :

• Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders or invoices.
• Unpack and inspect received goods for damage or defects.
• Record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability.
• Prepare and pack items for shipment according to specifications.
• Arrange for transportation of goods using appropriate carriers or shipping methods.
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with shipping and receiving procedures and regulations.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed to move and store materials.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse or shipping area.
• Handle and resolve any issues or complaints related to shipments or deliveries.
• Participate in periodic inventory counts and audits.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, including familiarity with shipping documents and regulations.
• Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and tracking inventory.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with coworkers and other departments.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in using shipping and inventory management software.
