To serve the three Native American school communities in Maine.
State of Maine Superintendent (010) certification required.
Salary and benefits are regionally competitive.
MIE is comprised of three K-8 schools located at the Indian Township Passamaquoddy Reservation, the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Reservation (both in Washington County) and Penobscot Indian Nation (Penobscot County). The Central Office of Maine Indian Education is located in Calais, Maine at the Wabanaki Culture Center. High schools students are tuitioned to area high schools. MIE and its three schools receive funding through the Bureau of Indian Education and Maine Department of Education and is responsible for meeting federal and state accountability measures.
