Nicoletti Hornig & Sweeney is looking to add an associate attorney with 3-7 years of litigation experience to its Lower Manhattan office. The firm’s main practice areas include maritime and admiralty law, construction, general liability, and insurance coverage.
The firm is seeking an associate who will be responsible for handling all aspects of pre-trial litigation in the defense of complex construction cases, premises liability cases, and other general liability cases in New York state and federal courts. They will be generally responsible for developing the cases, analyzing risk, and working toward resolution. They will be expected to be able to handle, among other tasks: pleadings and discovery; taking and defending depositions; drafting and arguing motions and appeals; communicating with clients; communicating with opposing counsel; and communicating with experts. The associate may also have some exposure to the firm's maritime practice.
The associate must have strong organizational, research, and writing skills, and be able to independently handle a high level of responsibility.
Trial experience is a plus. The firm aims to have associates gain trial experience on their cases.
Associates are expected to bill a minimum of 1900 hours per year.
Candidates must be admitted in New York State. Additional admissions are a plus.
