Lead Operator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Production Team Leader
TRAVEL: <5% Positions Supervised: None
POSITION SUMMARY
Communicate with prior and following shift about safety concerns, production schedule, quality updates, and
other priorities related to production. Prioritize and delegate work assignments for the current shift. Support
team members with various manufacturing processes that take place in the Production department. Assist with
creating a culture of accountability and customer first attitude. This includes supporting an efficient production
process, maximizing productivity, and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly production area. More than 40
hours per week may be required with flexibility to work alternate shifts and additional hours based upon the
needs of the organization.
Standard Work: 1. Structured and detailed communication at shift change. 2. Make sure documents/paperwork
for production are updated and available for Manual Operators. 3. End of job dispositioning and end of shift
archiving, through the use of the ERP system. 4. Training and training documentation as needed.

Recognize and report safety hazards.
Be the first point of contact between Production and other departments.
Communicate/consult with prior and following shift about any areas that might require attention during
the current production shift.
Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments, aligning resources with systems.
Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the
company’s standards.
Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with department housekeeping standards, safety/work rules and regulations.
Measure and/or visually inspect parts to ensure that they meet current quality standards.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance Leader on all quality related concerns or questions.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Minimum of six months experience working NP production environment preferred
Strong desire to collaborate with and be part of the NP Team
Proficient in all Operator skills preferred

Willing and able to complete all applicable skills as listed within the Current Training Checklist and/or
Career Path Plan
Willing and able to participate in onsite and offsite Leadership Training or other training which is
applicable to the role
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Perform basic arithmetic calculations
Knowledgeable in use of calipers and other measurement tools
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time;
walk, handle tools, or controls; communicate and listen (hear). The employee is occasionally required to climb
or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move parts, reports, files, office supplies, etc. weighing
up to 40 pounds. Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motion. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to
adjust focus.

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment; moderate levels of dirt, noise, vibrations,
equipment movement hazards, fumes, chemicals/solvents, and electrical hazards. Occasional work in an office
environment with use of computer and other standard office equipment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. is to be worn as applicable throughout entire shift.
