Job Duties
Responsibility / Duty
Residence Life: 40%
  • Provides oversight and guidance for the student-employee hiring and selection process. Supervises Residential Living student employees indirectly through Area Coordinators, including Hall Directors, Assistant Hall Directors, Resident Assistants, and Desk Assistants;
  • Documents student-employee progress and performance, implements student-employee accountability plan (SAP Plan) if necessary;
  • Complete performance planning and evaluation review documentation required for each full-time employee reporting to this position;
  • Provides oversight for daily operations/responsibilities for Area Coordinator positions, ensuring that collateral responsibilities are completed as expected;
  • Complete performance planning and evaluation review documentation required for each student-employee reporting to this position;
  • Provides a proactive and comprehensive student-employee training program, designed to improve job skills and productivity, build a community/team attitude and enhance the quality of services to the on-campus housing residents;
  • Coordination and implementation of Residential Living responsibilities, including staff development and training, recruitment/selection, leadership development, and administrative processes;
  • Works with student leadership and Area Coordinators for oversight of RHA programming funds and RA programming budget;
  • Participates in professional staff “on-call” rotation;

Administrative Responsibilities: 30%
  • Assists in the preparations of requisitions and purchase orders for facility equipment, supplies, and services;
  • Complete performance planning and evaluation review documentation required for each full-time employee reporting to this position;
  • Assist in training for residential paraprofessional/student staff;
  • Provides supervision for the entire Residential Living Program in the absence of the Director
  • Develop and implement an asset management program for residential facilities to include furniture and equipment inventories
  • Maintains an inventory of Residential Living property, equipment, and supplies;
  • Completes annual University property control inventory assessment/report as well as annual fire and safety training with required staff members.
  • This position liaises with University Facilities Maintenance and Custodial Services for all residential facilities;

  • Assists in coordinating with Continuing Education the housing accommodations for summer camps and conference groups, including assignments, keys, and student staff coverage,

  • Oversees management of the Family Housing apartment complex. Including the recruitment, management, and supervision of the tenants.
  • Handles appeal processes such as damage billing;
  • Prepares and presents during orientations and other recruitment initiatives;
  • Assists with StarRez housing management software system.

  • Represent the department on various University committees and work with a wide range of University stakeholders for the betterment of the department and facilities;
  • Attend University and community programs and meetings as needed;
  • Assess resident needs; develop, coordinate, and distribute accurate information to residents regarding the department, the University, and the surrounding community; remain visible and accessible to the residents;
  • Work a flexible schedule that may not necessarily be limited to traditional “office hours” and respond to emergencies (hurricanes, floods, building damages, etc.) as needed;
  • Gives guidance and oversight to StarRez housing management software in regard to StarCare or other software modules;

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Living, Vice President for Student Affairs, or President.

Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, Behavioral Science, or a related field).

  • Must have previous supervisory experience and strong interpersonal skills.
