If you'd like to know more, check out all of theNU Facts.Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the DSO/SEVIS Coordinator/ International Student Advisor is responsible for the processing of I-20 documents (and J-1 visas if implemented), SEVIS reporting, administrative and operational assistance to the Vice President of International Relations/Brennan Center. Assist with some administrative oversight of an ESL program. Essential Duties
Serve as point of contact for international students with Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 inquiries in person, via phone, and email
Collect and coordinate undergraduate, and graduate, ESL and exchange Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 application documentation
Issue Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 to facilitate the entrance of international students in accordance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and university policies
Advise international students on F1 student visa regulations and processes to include employment, full-time enrollment, travel, change of status
Assist international students with filing appropriate paperwork with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) efficiently and in a timely manner
Provide support and guidance to international students undergoing immigration issues
Keep current with DHS and USCIS F1 student visa regulations and procedures
Manage Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to record accurate documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with US visa regulations to comply with SEVIS reporting guidelines
Collaborate with various academic departments on campus to streamline enrollment process for international students, as well as other departmental related matters
Organize International Student Orientation each semester with other depart members
Organize OPT/CPT sessions and information session and faculty advocacy presentations with PDSO
Utilize calendar to organize and maintain scheduled activities and ensure compliance deadlines
Adhere to FERPA guidelines maintaining privacy and confidentiality of student records
Answer department related questions, respond to inquiries, schedule appointments, and greet visitors
Answer telephones, take messages, schedule appointments and greet visitors;
Handle correspondence, produce reports (including graphs and charts), presentations, and record minutes of meetings
Maintain calendar(s) to schedule appointments, coordinate and maintain scheduled activities and ensure compliance with deadlines
Utilize Microsoft Office for word processing, database and spreadsheet management, presentations and other software as applicable;
Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment;
Assist with administrative oversight of ESL programs (No teaching)
Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to be able to read and understand various forms, documentation, files and information.
Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to be able to verify accuracy of work.
Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: calculator, copy-machine, computer keyboard, computer software applications, laser printer, copier, fax machine, scanner, microfilm and reader printer.
Ability to consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills dealing with persons both internal and external to the university.
Ability to counsel both international students and employees.
Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and effectively communicate with others.
Computer literate, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new computer software programs with ability to use computer based systems; Working knowledge of Colleague, Degree Audit and/or SEVIS is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to be detail-oriented, flexible and able to effectively prioritize tasks.
Ability to perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to display sound judgment to insure timely processing and completion of assigned tasks.
Ability to plan and coordinate activities
Ability to be tactful and demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with difficult
circumstances.
Ability to gain thorough knowledge of current immigration rules and regulations.
Ergonomic RequirementsThe functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, calculator, cutting, labeling, and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Bachelor's degree is required with education, training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
A minimum of three years of related office experience performing similar tasks is required.
Three years of experience in international student affairs or higher education is preferred.
Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America.
