Purpose:
The Director of Transportation will oversee daily transportation, dispatch, and logistical operations. The Director of Transportation will work alongside company leaders to strategically advance organizational initiatives and proactively provide exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
· Lead dispatch team.
· Lead driver team.
· Remain current with industry and DOT regulations and ensures compliance.
· Advance safety programs.
· Build relationships with the drivers.
· Determine route, truck, driver profitability.
· Promote and strengthen company values while demonstrating a self-motivated passion for furthering company growth.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or continuing education preferred.
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the transportation, dispatch, warehouse, or logistics industry.
· At least three (3) years of successful leadership experience including managing teams and developing employees. Cross-functional transportation team leadership, preferred.
· Demonstrated business development and financial acumen.
· Complete support of and willing adherence to NHT’s mission, vision, and core values. Candidate must hold these standards as his/her own.
· Prior or current CDL license, required.
Skills & Competencies:
· Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
· Demonstrated proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite, required.
· Experience with Trucking Management Software (TMS), strongly preferred.
· Logistics and fleet operations.
· Strategic thinking.
· Strong management and multi-tasking.
· Detail oriented and organized.
· Ability to work under pressure and lead positively.
· Flexible, adaptable and people oriented.
Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets.
Work Hours: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Travel: Occasional
