Job Description : PRIMARY FUNCTION :

PRIMARY FUNCTION :

The NHPS Food Service staffing Coordinator position will be responsible for providing essential support to various staffing functions including but not limited to managing call outs, scheduling of staff at various locations, time and attendance monitoring, payroll monitoring, and staffing report preparations.

The Staffing Coordinator ensures that staffing requirements for each food service shift are filled based on location, experience, and qualifications of the employees.

REPORTS TO :

Food Service Director, Deputy Director, Bureau Supervisor, or designee.

SUPERVISES :

Clerical Staff or Part-Time Staff as necessary

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Overseeing call-out staffing needs at all campus sites of New Haven Public Schools.
  • Maintaining staffing logs in compliance with Food Service policies and procedures.
  • Assists in securing staff for absences, leaves, etc., adjusting schedules as required.
  • Maintains records on vacations, sick leave, leaves of absence, holidays, excused and unexcused absences, and recommends appropriate action.
  • Review of time and attendance records for the preparation of payroll
  • Data entry of payroll time and attendance records.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as needed.
  • Customer service and clerical tasks, such as answering phone calls, greeting visitors, taking notes, sending correspondence and filing.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :

Associate degree in business administration, or a similar relevant field, One (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered

SPECIAL WORK REQUIREMENTS :

Specialized hours which include early mornings due to staffing assignments and needs of schools

  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
  • Competence in utilizing standard computer applications for data entry and document management.
  • Must possess sensitivity in understanding employees' needs while maintaining a sense of balance to ensure that staffing requirements are met for the facility.
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to maintain both a digital and a paper filing system.
  • Possessing excellent communication and written skills to effectively speak to employees and write reports.
  • Mathematical skills to verify payroll accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
