About this Position / Responsibilities:

NFF is looking for a Sr. Policy Analyst to support a Washington DC based Human Services client. Hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

1. Providing expert policy analysis and guidance, including:

  • Conducting research and analysis of complex policy issues related to specific human services programs.
  • Developing policy options and recommendations based on research and analysis.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including program staff, subject matter experts, and external partners, to develop policy proposals and solutions.

2. Communicating policy analysis and guidance, including:

  • Developing policy briefs, white papers, and other written materials to communicate policy options and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences on policy issues and recommendations.
  • Coordinating with program staff and external partners to ensure effective communication and implementation of policy guidance and recommendations.

3. Providing leadership and direction on policy initiatives, including:

  • Managing and overseeing policy projects, including developing and implementing project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to program staff and external partners on policy initiatives.
  • Leading and facilitating stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, focus groups, and other forms of outreach.

4. Monitoring and evaluating policy initiatives, including:

  • Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation plans to assess the effectiveness of policy initiatives.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data to make recommendations for program improvement and policy changes.
  • Providing reports and updates on policy initiative progress and impact to stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in policy analysis and development, with a focus on human services programs.

Strong knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and technologies related to Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) systems for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP benefits.

Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate policy recommendations effectively.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders in human services programs.

Advanced degree in public policy, public administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
