As the Controller you will manages all accounting, financial planning, banking and insurance functions, prepares regular and accurate financial reports, provides input to CFO on financial, operational, and budget issues, leads business planning and development sessions.

The Controller will be responsible for coordinating and concluding monthly review of profit and loss for the company, developing budgets, supervising various day to day functions of the accounting group, and managing various technology integration projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assure all business transactions are properly recorded in a timely manner and properly reflected in financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policy.
  • Coordinate and conclude the monthly review of operating statements.
  • Assure all state and local tax returns are filed properly and timely.
  • Assure all accounts are accurately stated, and all account balances are reconciled to supporting subsystems and external documents.
  • Analyze and projects all aspects of company’s financial performance.
  • Maintain cash forecast to ensure obligations are able to be met timely.
  • Manage annual external review of financial statements.
  • Manage financial compliance of entitles including bylaws of multiple entities, state tax reporting and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate accounting and operational processes and seeks new processes as needed to improve company efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Interact with system developers to assure adequate appropriate data is created and maintained for financial reporting.
  • Support operational managers with insurance audits by states and underwriters; manage insurance renewal process.
  • Advises accounting staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Supervise, motivate and train individuals associated with the accounting department
  • Supports CFO with special projects and performs other duties as assigned

 
Supervisor Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Accounting Group. Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and a CPA certification with 10 years accounting experience required. Significant supervisory experience, previous Controller experience required. 

Previous experience in growth company, with multiple legal entities in complex ownership structure, and experience working in an entrepreneurial environment preferred. 

SAGE Intacct experience helpful. 

Computer Skills: 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Strong financial accounting and analytical skills. 
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills. 
  • Strong technical ability and understanding of IT.

  • Work professionally with highly confidential and sensitive personnel data.

  • Communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule workload efficiently; manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
  • Ability to apply technology to solve problems and improve processes.
