JOB TITLE: PLANT MANAGER
REPORTS TO:
COO
DEPARTMENT: Operations
JOB SUMMARY:
Directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, and other production-related activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Directs and manages plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives and goals are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develops and controls profits, plans, and budgets.
  • Implements cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
  • Manages capital asset maintenance.
  • Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Maintains existing plant facilities and equipment; replaces or makes adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provides leadership to the management team to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Promotes safety and cleanliness goals throughout the plant, emphasizing their role in the success of the plant.
  • Provides direction, development, and leadership to the management team. 
  •  Assists in the formulation of division strategic long- and short-term goals and objectives and their implementation through appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and implements plant-wide initiatives, communications, analysis of plant functions, and recommendations for organizational change.
  • Performs related duties as required and assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • An ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing role with experience in a metal removal manufacturing environment, and managerial experience.
  • An ability to work well and communicate well with all levels of management as well as production employees is essential.
  • The candidate should have solid decision-making skills with the ability to review and evaluate information in a logical, systematic approach.
  • Leads the management team by working collaboratively to accomplish special projects and assignments that support the company’s overall goals and business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, project management skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, the latest manufacturing techniques, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • A candidate should be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a strong sense of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The ability to coach and mentor the management team is essential for the successful accomplishment of facility goals.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • An ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field and seven to ten years of experience in the field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • A Master’s degree in business or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office computer software applications.
