Position Summary: Performs low vision assessments, in-home evaluations and training and workplace assessments. Conducts low vision assessments and training to use assistive devices, teaching daily living skills, and other relevant rehabilitation activities.

Essential duties and responsibilities (3-5 core functions representing 80% of time spent):

• Conducts low vision assessments, in-home evaluations and other OT related assessments.
• Develops training and performs various training in daily living skills, the use of assistive devices and other relevant rehabilitation activities.
• Documents all services as needed to comply with multiple funding sources and to maintain good communication with referring Physicians.
• Recommend adapted equipment and magnification devices to clients as needed, and complete subsequent documentation to comply with the appropriate funding source.
• Work in conjunction with existing services to develop a comprehensive plan of care.
• Provides occupational therapy services by evaluating patient care protocols; measuring outcomes; researching and evaluating emerging trends.
• Responsible for supervising the patient care activities of the COTA's
• Must wear all protective equipment required by department.
• Must follow all company policies and procedures including departmental safety policies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Classen Low Vision Center only:

• Oversees diabetes education classes. Responsible for following grant rules and keeping up timelines ensuring they are within the grant guidelines. Sets up classes for patients and their families. Makes contact with appropriate people to keep classes going throughout the state of Oklahoma.

Qualifications (Minimum education, experience, training, licensure, certification):

• Degree in occupational therapy required, plus state certification.
• Three years of clinical practice, experience with third party payment systems (Medicare reimbursement for clinical services).
• Preference given to those who have experience in working with people who are blind or visually impaired.
• Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency is preferred for the role.
