JOB SUMMARY
Responds to HVAC routine service requests via electronic work order system. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other campus buildings. Services refrigeration system, pneumatic controls, electrical circuitry, and mechanical equipment pertaining to chillers, towers, pumps, air handlers, steam, and condensate systems as well as water treatment and energy conservationmechanisms.
FUNCTIONS:
*Monitors, inspects, maintains, trouble shoots, resets and repair of HVAC equipment, machinery and /or systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other campus buildings.
*Resets HVAC Equipment subsequent to failures.
*Rotating On Call HVAC support for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
*Department rotation shift coverage include support of other systems such as Fire Alarm Systems, Nitrogen, Nitrous Oxide, Oxygen, medical vacuum systems, locks and hardware, Nurse Call System, and Tube System. Training will be provided for shift coverage involving these systems.
*Other responsibilities for department rotating shift coverage include:
oUnplugging of clogged drains, replacement of faucet washers, toilet repair.
oChanges fuses, resets circuit breakers, replaces lightbulbs.
oReplaces ceiling tiles.
oRoundings
oResponds to emergency situations and follow triage protocol.
oResponds to service request as dispatched via work order systems and direct page.
oDocuments all work requests and work performed on shift logs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
*Duties may involve general cleaning with exposure to dirt, odors, cramped quarters, etc.; or include patient care responsibilities. with subsequent exposure to human waste, or other unpleasant elements; or much of work may be performed outdoors with exposure to weather extremes.
*Nature of duties may involve continuous presence of unpleasant or or irritating elements, considerable noise, or constant exposure to extremes of weather through performance of duties performed exclusively outdoors.

*High School or trade school graduate
*Graduate of accredited apprenticeship program or relevant OJT program.
*1-3 years' experience in hospital maintenance preferred.
*Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written manner.
*Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, problem solve, get along with others and confront issues appropriately.
*HVAC duties require Mass. Refrigeration license and EPA Certificate
