Description

Scheduled Hours: Full time Night - 70 hours per two week pay period (7 on/7off, 10:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m.. Monday - Sunday)

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing routine duties as directed by Laboratory Manager. Performs chemical, microscopic, serologic, hematologic, immunohematologic, parasitic, and bacteriologic tests to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease. Performs routine and complex analysis. Monitors quality control. Exercises independent judgment in lab decisions. May perform some phlebotomy duties.

    • 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
    • 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
    • 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
    • 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility
    • In 2021 we celebrated our 100th year in operation servicing the local members of Newport, WA and the surrounding communities.

Education Background and Experience:

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree in Medical Lab Science.

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Certification/Licensure as a Medical Lab Technician in Hematology, Chemistry and/or Blood Bank by ACSP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) or equivalent.

Required Experience:

Epic experience. Previous generalist experience

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, urinalysis, and coagulation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of new testing methods, products, instrumentation; remains informed on all current technologies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of microbiological plating and staining procedures.
  • Responsible for performing high-complexity testing.
  • Consults with appropriate personnel when test findings are unusual and/or difficulties are encountered in testing.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of proper identification and reporting of medical/health care errors. Protects the patient in the event of a medical/health care error and, as appropriate, assists in medical/health care error resolution.
  • Performs quality control checks on equipment, performs calibrations and troubleshoots out-of-range results.
  • Performs quality control tests on reagents and stains, and documents results.
  • Performs proficiency testing as directed; samples will be tested in the same manner as patient samples and not referred to reference laboratories.
  • Perform and record preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation.

Compensation/How We Care For You:

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($24.92 - $29.35/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.

Full-time benefitted - (60-80 hours per two week pay period).
Part-time benefitted - (40-59 hours per two week pay period).
