NewMarket Services Corporation is Hiring an I & E Mechanic Near Pasadena, TX

Overview

Instrumentation - Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, installs, configures, and calibrates industrial plant process instrumentation and valves/valve automation. This scope also includes all associated low voltage and instrumentation/controls wiring, junction boxes and marshalling panels. Functionally troubleshooting of automation/controls (DCS/PLC) to I/O level.

Electrical - Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, installs, and sets up plant electrical components and wiring up to and including 480 VAC.

Ensures that work is in accordance with all relevant NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and ISA standards as well as all OSHA electrical regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Able to diagnosis an electrical, instrumentation or controls issue, determine the root cause through testing, repair or replace components, reconfigure/and set up as necessary, test for function, and document the return to service details.
  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment and software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems
  • Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation and for defects such as loose connections and frayed wires
  • Interpret work orders descriptions and converse with equipment operators to scope equipment problems and determine the corrective actions to resolve.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems
  • Understand blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures
  • Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly
  • Repair and adjust equipment, machines, and defective components, replacing worn parts such as gaskets and seals in watertight electrical equipment
  • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and tests
  • Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications
  • Develop or modify industrial electronic devices, circuits, and equipment according to available specifications
  • Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing and maintaining equipment or components
  • Consult with operators, supervisors, and engineers to plan layout of equipment and to resolve problems in system operation and maintenance
  • Wire up circuit breakers, motor starters, transformers, or other medium and low voltage components
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Install ground leads and connect multiphase power cables to equipment, such as motors
