Sr. Corporate Chef (Broadview)

Chef will facilitate project work utilizing real-time, hands-on cooking in the NWF Kitchens. The position is responsible for creative product development and on-trend Menu Concepts, as well as, tangible prototypes, on-site and off-site product demonstrations, and all tasks associated with successfully carrying out this position.

This position requires experience in Sauce formulation, as well as, Seasoning Blends & Coating Systems. The ability to create gold standards, translate them into a processable item, and through commercialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities; Sr. Corp. Chef

  • Research, source, and prepare high-quality, tangible Menu concepts for appropriate channels of business as directed by and in conjunction with National Accounts and other NWF Corporate Chefs
  • Help manage the NWF Kitchen (including perishable inventory, pantry items, cleaning materials, cleaning staff, and sundries) and oversee the kitchen's day-to-day operations
  • Work collaboratively and develop relationships with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Research and development to provide the delivery of innovative product concepts in a timely and fiscally responsible manner
  • Write, test, edit, and improve proprietary, commercial formulas and home-cook recipes for use by customers (both internal and external). Ensure formula/recipe integrity
  • Explain, teach, and train basic cooking methods and skills, and showcase NWF products
  • Coordinate food products for presentations in intimate and large-scale formats (single customer, trade show, and internal events), and attend such events when appropriate
  • Provide culinary support to NWF Taste Tech University (customer technical training program)
  • Understand restaurant operations and be an expert in “menu development strategies”
  • Traveling approx. 30% of the time
  • Assist the Culinary Director and provide backup support
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed
  • Proactively develop trust and close working relationships with other NWF chefs through engagement and other cooperative efforts

National Account Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, create, evaluate, and present new food concepts/products for NWF customers that are built upon; excellent flavor, operations, manufacturing, distribution, food safety, corporate strategy, and profitability
  • Obtain an adequate/appropriate understanding of NWF National Account Customer business goals and operations
  • Build and demonstrate a firm understanding of each customer’s culture and business goals to best represent Newly Weds Foods and our support capabilities
  • Pursue and establish strong working relationships with key customer representatives in order to elevate Newly Weds Foods from a product/service provider to a partner in growth
  • Coordinate and communicate with Sales in order to maximize Newly Weds Foods advantage over its competitors
  • Interface with Newly Weds Foods R&D & Sales teams to create business opportunities

Education, Training and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts or AA/or AAS in Culinary Arts or technical school with a concentration in Culinary Arts
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training
  • Minimum of three years of food product development experience while working for a food manufacturer is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be proficient in using internet software and navigating social media sites
  • Excellent cooking skills and professional cooking experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the restaurant and/or food service industry
  • Experience with manufactured products from raw ingredients to consumer-packaged finished goods
  • Ability to be resourceful to quickly and economically find solutions
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
