New Leaf Symbiotics (NLS), an agricultural biologicals company is looking for a Manufacturing Logistics and Costing Lead. NLS company headquarters and laboratories are located at the BRDG Park facility at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, in St. Louis, Missouri. We are seeking an individual with a passion for sustainable agriculture and biological solutions, who will be responsible for the commercialization of new microbial based products.
Manufacturing Logistics and Costing Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics operations such as warehousing, inventory, transportation, and supply chain processes.
Develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost.
Maintain inventory levels at several contract manufacturing organizations (CMO’s).
Order manufacturing ingredients through multiple distributors.
Assist with production coordination and packaging.
Review integrity for the Bill of Materials (BOM), evaluate usage and cost of materials, including BOM variance analysis.
Facilitate the preparation of periodic financial reports such, inventory valuation and adjustments along with manufacturing spending.
Support monthly close by preparing inventory reconciliations.
Support reporting of product sales and costs along with relevant variance analysis.
Collaborate on the development of automated tools or reports for saving opportunities to business.
Expanded responsibilities can include product yield reports, review of CAR financial justifications for manufacturing capital projects and Ad hoc assignments from Leadership team.
Optimize manufacturing and shipping costs.
Planning and managing logistics, warehouse, transportation, and internal customer service.
Ensure that quality, quantity, customer satisfaction and financial commitments are met.
Resolve any arising problems or complaints with suppliers, 3rd party warehouses, CMOs/
Partner and communicate with manufacturers and suppliers.
Create standardized methods for locating and obtaining goods and services for the company.
Evaluating spending operations and seek ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and timelines of delivery.
Liaison to accounting team
Maintain manufacturing & inventory management software; build/maintain bill of materials, issue work orders, maintain inventory to maximize efficiency in the production process.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree with 10 years business experience/supply chain management/business administration/operations
- Strong organization, analytical, and math skills
- Strong Excel understanding including model development, function/formula understanding.
- ERP Experience, preferably with Fishbowl
- Solid understanding of shipping, warehousing, trucking, and logistics
- Learning agility / comfortable in a fast-paced and highly flexible environment
- Strong organizer who can handle constant interruption while keeping eyes on target.
- Ability to quickly summarize data and capture changing assumptions.
- Passion for manufacturing activity and knowledge
- Strong team player
- Understanding of basic accounting principles to categorize manufacturing costs appropriately.
