JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision and Direction of the Summer School Administration and Summer School Coordinator, assist summer school staff in providing culturally appropriate learning experiences for students; crate meaningful relationships; facilitaate skill acquistion in academics, social, self-help and motor areas; maintain educational records; provide liaison services with parents; provide for personal needs of children; supervise students as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Computer skills, language arts and math skills. Ability to work with a diverse population of students and parents; ability to maintain accurate records; commitment to attend all staff training and in-service meetings and fulfill all dates of employment.

Education: Two years of college, associate's degree or passing score on a para-professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a classroom environment in close proximity to students and other adults. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes. May be required to use a telephone and operate a computer.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Summer School June 18th; June 20, 2024 - June 28, 2024, plus 4 hours of additional training, for a total of 8 days. 

CLASSIFICATION/LOCATION:

Classified, Temporary position at NHS. IN DISTRICT APPLICANTS ONLY

Calendar/Benefits:

6.5 hours per day, (8:00am to 3:00pm with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch) June 18th; June 20, 2024 - June 28, 2024, for a total of 8 days plus 4 hours of training. 

Salary Range 9 of the 2024-25 Classified Wage Schedule $19.20 - $23.60 per hour.
