New York StateWide Senior Action Council (StateWide) is a grassroots non-profit, advocacy organization who works with community members, legislators, and local, state, and federal partners to fight for the dignity, security, and health justice of older New Yorkers.

We are looking for a full-time staff member based in New York City who will provide navigator services to older adults, organize community events, and share presentations on health care issues impacting older adults and their caregivers in their communities.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and maintain relationships with local nonprofit and health organizations.
• Develop engaging community outreach strategies and plan community events.
• Answer a Helpline assisting beneficiaries with Medicare questions, insurance counseling, Patients’ Rights, and Medicare Fraud Prevention.
• Share presentations on healthcare related topics at senior centers, health facilities, and other community locations.
• Measure and document your reach and impact using multiple computer programs.

Who You Are:

• You are passionate about the field of aging, health care, advocacy and health justice.
• You have knowledge and experience working with the health insurance system.
• You have experience working with multicultural, multi-ethnic, people with disabilities, and hard to reach communities.
• You are a natural-networker and have experience with community organizing.
• You are independent, organized and are excited to create new, engaging strategies.
• You are comfortable with public speaking and communicating over the phone and email.
• You have strong computer skills (required).
• You are flexible and detail oriented.
• Candidates must live in the NYC area and be willing to travel to give presentations and conduct community outreach activities.
• You are bi-lingual and are able to communicate in English and Spanish (required).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
