New York State Office of the Attorney General is Hiring a Detective Investigator Near Syracuse, NY

Detec�ve Inves�gator: Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) – Syracuse

The Office of the Atorney General is seeking qualified candidates for Detec�ve Inves�gator posi�ons
located in our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) – Syracuse. Candidates should be hard-working,
mo�vated, and commited to public service on behalf of the people of the State of New York.

MFCU, the centerpiece of efforts to combat Medicaid provider fraud, is looking for experienced
detec�ves to conduct complex inves�ga�ons into fraud commited by Medicaid providers and others in
the healthcare industry who steal from New York State, those involved in the diversion of prescrip�on
narco�cs, and to inves�gate and prosecute abuse and neglect of residents in nursing homes, hospitals,
and other residen�al healthcare facili�es.

Detec�ve Inves�gators work collabora�vely in case specific teams with Assistant Atorneys General,
analysts, and forensic auditors to learn how to conduct highly complex criminal and civil inves�ga�ons,
using the highest level of professionalism, judgement, and discre�on.

Minimum qualifica�ons:

Expert interviewing and interroga�on skills.

Exper�se in collec�on of evidence and execu�ng search and arrest warrants.

Experience conduc�ng undercover opera�ons involving surveillance.

Experience developing and handling confiden�al informants.

Experience inves�ga�ng white-collar crime, narco�cs opera�ons, insurance fraud cases, and electronic
crimes.

Established contacts within the law enforcement community serving the loca�on posted.

Candidates should possess strong wri�ng, analy�cal and organiza�onal skills. Candidates will be required
to combine tradi�onal inves�ga�ve skills with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of
an inves�ga�ve team.

Preferred qualifica�ons and skills:

Cultural competence to understand and effec�vely respond to cultural differences for involvement in
undercover opera�ons and/or otherwise to be inserted into inves�ga�ons and interac�ons with targets
across cultures.

Strong communica�ons, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Proficiency with computers, common word processing applica�ons, use of search engines and internet
research.

The ability to read, write, speak, and understand a second language, in addi�on to English.

Qualifica�ons in addi�on to those listed above:

Must have at least ten years of law enforcement experience and current NYS basic police school
cer�fica�on.

Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and have the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

The Public Officer’s Law requires that police officers at the OAG be ci�zens of the United States and
reside in New York State.

Performance of the du�es may require frequent, unscheduled work on evenings and weekends and
requires 24/7 availability. This posi�on is in the exempt class, and incumbents serve at the pleasure of
the Atorney General. The Hire Rate for this posi�on is $75,348.
