Job Description
Prepares all medications associated with IV treatments to be administered in outpatient oncology setting. This includes but not limited to chemotherapy, biologics, growth factors and support medications prescribed to prevent or treat therapy associated side effects. In addition, the pharmacy technician manages drug inventory and runs/reviews daily reports of drug utilization, maintains pharmacy environment to OSHA, USP 797-800, ONS, QOPI and JACHO standards, demonstrates safe handling and disposal of chemotherapy. The pharmacy tech can serve as resource to clinical and billing staff regarding drug dispensing and preparation.
