New York Presbyterian Healthcare System is Hiring an Emergency Department Technician (EMT) Near Stamford, CT

Job Description

Stamford Hospital is seeking an experienced individual to join the Emergency Department as an ED Tech. This is a great opportunity to work in a Certified Great Place to Work organization as to continue growing your career. There is flexibility to work Part time/Full time, 3/12 hours weekdays, rotating weekends and holidays.

Hours: Mid shift- 10 am to 11pm. or 7pm to 8am night shift.

The Emergency Room Tech assists in the provision of patient care in accordance with State and Federal guidelines under the director of a licensed nursing personnel, P.A. and/or physician personnel.

  1. Performs EKGs
  2. Performs phlebotomy
  3. Performs vital signs and pain scale
  4. Places splints
  5. Removes and applies simple dressings
  6. Assists in applications of restraints as directed by physicians and registered nurses
  7. Transports patients to CT, OR, floors
  8. Documents appropriately in electronic medical record
  9. Provides patient education as directed by RN
  10. Participates as a member of PAMI team, Trauma team including specific responsibilities in the ED
  11. Participates as a member of the Medic Alert team throughout the hospital
  12. Stocks patient rooms, pyxis machines and supply carts as necessary
  13. Assists in procedures under the direction of MDs and RNs
  14. Completes temperature logs as requested
  15. Participates in education and training of new staff and students
  16. Participates in a supports performance improvement and risk management activities
  17. Assumes role of Patient Care Attendant (as necessary) and completes required PCA log
  18. Performs all duties with a focus on patient and customer satisfaction and in keeping with the Planetree philosophy
