The Residential Clinician provides assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder. The clinician will foster positive working relationships with clients, families, providers, and outside key stakeholders to utilize an individualized, strengths based, solution-focused model of care. The Residential Clinician is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or counseling or closely related field or LCADC
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling or closely related field and TCADC or CADC
  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
  • Experience working with high risk populations and/or substance use disorder
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorder treatment in a trauma informed care environment
  • Experience using various treatment modalities appropriate for specified populations, utilizing strengths-based therapeutic approaches

Essential Functions

  • Conduct phone screenings for potential referrals
  • Determine appropriateness of level of care
  • Evaluate client needs can reasonably be met through residential services
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessment, risk assessment, and full psychosocial history when indicated
  • Work with each client to develop a targeted, individualized plan of care outlining specific goals and objectives to be accomplished through residential services
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy designed to target substance use disorder, coping skills training, and recovery strategies
  • Identify client case management needs and partner with Residential Behavioral Health Associates and Nursing staff regarding referrals and/or assisting clients with accessing resources
  • Collaborate with Program Director and psychiatrist or APRN to identify an appropriate discharge plan, coordinate appropriate follow up services, and assist client in connecting to beneficial community resources upon discharge
  • Establish Safety and Aftercare Plan for discharge to include family members and/or significant others when applicable
  • Assist in the overall planning and implementation of the clinical services provided by residential program
  • Document all clinical work and maintain the client’s electronic health record according to Bluegrass.org policies and procedure
