New Vista of the Bluegrass Inc is Hiring a KY Moms MATR Prevention Specialist - Superb Benefits! Near Lexington, KY

The KY Moms MATR Prevention Specialist works alongside a team within the program KY Moms MATR (maternal assistance towards recovery) at New Vista. This position assists expectant Kentucky mothers who are at risk for using alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, to reduce harm to their children from their substance use, during and after pregnancy. This position works within 17 counties to provide prevention education, services and support to clients, coalitions/organizations and communities. This is a client facing position that works in collaboration between health departments, prenatal clinics, community mental health centers, and the Kentucky MOMS Case Manager. The KY MOMS MATR Prevention Specialist is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation. 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or, Health Education or related field
  2. Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
  3. Must obtain a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) from 3 years of date of hire.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Knowledge of substance use disorders; community support and ability to work well in a team environment.
  2. Experience with public speaking and presentations
  3. Familiarity with electronic medical records (preferably AVATAR) database
  4. Experience with event planning
  5. Experience in working with clients.

Collaboration and Communication

  1. Plan and facilitate prevention-education focused Healthy Baby Workshops for new and expecting mothers.
  2. Conduct one-on-one educational sessions covering a range of topics relevant to maternal substance use with individuals.
  3. Utilize innovative marketing techniques, including social media campaigns, community outreach events, and partnerships with local organizations, to maximize program visibility and engagement.
  4. Continuously monitor the landscape of maternal and addiction support services, both locally and at a state-level, to pinpoint areas where Kentucky Moms-MATR (KMM) can innovate and make a meaningful impact.
  5. Ensure strict adherence to program and regulatory Guidelines.
  6. Become SBIRT (Screening Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) certified, and facilitate training to diverse parties.
  7. Provide prevention education training to individuals, agencies, or groups within the community on a variety of topics relating to maternal and child health.
  8. Utilize strong organizational and communication skills to manage and prioritize incoming inquiries through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and online platforms.
  9. Collaborate with relevant team members to gather necessary information and provide accurate and helpful responses to inquiries, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards individuals seeking assistance.
  10. Participate in all mandatory training sessions and pursue relevant certifications to continuously develop and strengthen skills pertinent to this role.
  11. Contribute actively to the ongoing enhancement of program implementation through participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Documentation

  1. Maintain accurate, thorough records on all assigned cases per board policies and procedures.
  2. Deliver and document services within the specified timeframes outlined in policies and procedures.
  3. Always ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations regarding the confidentiality of patient health information (PHI).
  4. Capture and document all activities within the Prevention Database System (PDS)
  5. Curate, develop, organize, and maintain a comprehensive database of resources readily available and accessible to the community.
  6. Ensure accurate and complete paperwork.
