New Vista of the Bluegrass Inc is Hiring a Health Information Management Manager - Superb Benefits!!! Near Lexington, KY

The Health Information Management (HIM) Manager, under limited supervision, has responsibility for region-wide medical (legal health) records and provides medical records consultation to unit staff throughout the seventeen county service areas. In collaboration with corporate office administration performs highly responsible duties in developing, administering and coordinating medical record programs and activities for the entire organization. Analyze administrative, fiscal and human factors involved in medical record program efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure departmental goals and objectives are met and assist in the day-to-day departmental operations in an office setting. The HIM Manager is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field 
  • Currently certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or completion of certification within 2 years from date of hire 
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 5 years of electronic health record experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of medical record-keeping
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and organizational guidelines involving medical records maintenance
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others
  • Skill in training and orienting staff in the area of medical records
  • Supervisory experience

Essential Functions

  • Ensures that all region-wide service area offices meet required standards for medical records, including retention and destruction
  • Meets as needed with office support staff in all service area offices to review records, provide professional consultation, and discuss and correct problems
  • Assist with the coordination of organization policy reviews, revisions, and approvals as applicable
  • Keeps abreast of all State and Federal guidelines regarding proper medical records maintenance
  • Provide medical record training during New Employee Orientation as needed
  • As needed, visit CMHC offices in other areas to consult on issues related to medical records
  • Advises Corporate Director of Quality and Compliance of problems associated with medical records and recommends solutions
  • Supervises, as needed, and coordinates medical records
  • Participates on the Corporate Compliance Committee
  • Consults with organization attorney as needed
  • Uphold and adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Respond to employees, clients and public at large questions, problems and needs in a timely, courteous and helpful manner
