New Ulm Steel & Recycling, Inc. is Hiring a Maintenance Millwright Near New, MN

Our goal is to help make your scrap disposal program the easiest, safest and most efficient it can be! Our business model includes servicing Retail, Commercial & Industrial and Containers & Transportation customers. Our parent company Crow Wing Recycling is a family-owned business headquartered in Brainerd, MN and operates in 9 locations throughout the state with over 300 employees.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Millwright to join our team at our New Ulm Steel, New Ulm MN location. The Maintenance Millwright reports to the Yard Manager. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Locates sources of problems by observing electro/mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using measuring and testing instruments
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Equipment maintenance and trouble shooting skills
  • Technical understanding
  • Good understanding of safety practices and supports safety culture within the company
  • Ability to work with a variety of power tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Understands the importance meeting stated goals and prioritizes daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to ensure they are completed on-time

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma
  • Preferred 1-3 years’ experience operating equipment
  • Must be reliable, eager to work and willing to learn
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements
  • Moderate to high risk of safety precautions
  • Moderate to high exposure to production environment
  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related)
  • Ability to work outside year-round
