New School for Child Development is Hiring a Mental Health Rehab Specialist Near Van Nuys, CA

 
 

The REACH program (Recreation, Enrichment, Athletics, Counseling and Health) is a unique after-school mental health program funded by L.A. County Department of Mental Health and designed specifically for children ages 5-12 with social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. This day rehabilitation program serves children who have full-scope Medical and who reside primarily in the Van Nuys, North Hollywood and Sherman Oaks areas.

REACH is a structured multidisciplinary therapeutic program in which the children participate in creative and enriching therapeutic groups and activities designed to assist each of them in developing skills and enhance their strengths to improve daily functioning at home, school and socially.

Our creative and dedicated staff work to inspire the children through many diverse activities driven by the interests of the children such as sports, arts & crafts, motivational incentives (such as field trips), leadership opportunities and team-building exercises. These activities are coordinated therapeutically to reinforce positive behaviors in order to improve social skills and team work and foster appropriate and effective communication

QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer BA or BS degree from an accredited program in psychology, counseling, social work or related field, and 4 years related experience in a mental health setting. Prefer a minimum of two years experienced specific to children struggling with emotional/behavioral challenges. Valid CA drivers’ license with good driving record. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Collaborates with therapist, DRS and DRS Aides to develop behavioral contracts for clients linked to daily program activities and mental health goals. Participate in treatment team meetings to assist in the development of individualized goals and case planning for clients.

 Responsible for maintaining behavioral contracts with clients with the support of the milieu staff. Provide additional individualized behavioral support to clients as needed during program hours including crisis intervention, across both milieus. 

Responsible for coordination of transportation of clients. Interface with schools to ensure appropriate and safe transportation of clients. 

Responsible for providing coverage for milieu leads and aides when not present Responsible for conducting children's day rehabilitation program activities. 

Responsible in planning monthly field trips. Provide ongoing supervision and monitoring of children participating in the program.

Responsible to review and finish weekly summaries on Welligent.

 Responsible of maintaining healthy snack options for clients during program hours.

 Participate in the development and implementation of individual and group behavioral plans and reinforcement programs.

 Transport children in Agency van to and from the program or serve as transportation monitor when needed.

 Interface with therapists, families, schools and other community liaisons.

 Participate in monthly, evening parent trainings, meetings, and/or family activities or programs. 

Attend agency and program staff meetings, case conferences and trainings, as assigned. Record minutes for all staff meetings Conduct all functions in accordance with Agency guidelines, policies and procedures and ethical standards. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary : $22.00 - $23.36
