Custodial Responsibilities:

Custodial Hours are 3pm to 7 pm, Tuesday through Saturday at St. Matthias School and/or St. Elizabeth Church.
- Perform floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
- Clean and maintain designated areas, including offices, restrooms, and common areas
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
- Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from debris
- Perform porter duties, including restocking supplies and maintaining inventory
- Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines
- Operate commercial cleaning equipment, such as buffers and industrial cleaning machines

• Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures. Washes and replaces blinds. Washes windows.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• May also sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.

Special Event Responsibilities

Special event hours may occur during this shift.

• Assist customers and/or parishioners who have rented or are using parish facilities for special events.
• Monitor the safety and cleanliness of the facilities.
• Ensure the restrooms are cleaned after the event.
• Ensure all trash cans are emptied during and after the event.
• Perform general cleaning of rental space after the event.

Skills:
- Experience in commercial cleaning or custodial work preferred
- Knowledge of floor care techniques
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of facilities maintenance tasks, school experience preferred and strong customer service skills.

Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program.

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate preferred

Job Related Skills: This position requires frequent movement about the school and parish buildings to complete the essential job responsibilities as outlined above. This position may require travel between parish locations. A valid driver's license is required.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to be a team player and have harmonious relationship skills when dealing with co-workers and other parish employees, families and the general public.
