JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Dean of Student Support works closely with the principal, school personnel and students to build and maintain a positive and safe school climate. In carrying out these responsibilities the Dean of Students shall:1.Manages student supervision issues and enforces school behavioral expectations.2.Is a visible and continuous presence in hallways and cafeteria throughout each day to ensure students are in class and handbook infractions are limited. 3.Serves as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues.4.Assists in monitoring and supervision of school facilities.5.Investigates student bullying complaints and files appropriate reports to school administration and district office.6.Investigates, adjudicates, and monitors major handbook infractions in the form of progressive discipline in consultation with principal.7.Coordinates efforts with school resource officer, school adjustment counselors, and school psychologist to discuss and problem solve student attendance and/or behavior issues.8.Consults with families, in collaboration with school adjustment counselors, concerning student attendance and behavior.9.Manages the documentation of student behavior through the student management system (iPass). 10.Assists Assistant Principal with the coordination and oversight of 504s and their implementation.11.Assists the Principal of Student/Staff Support with the facilitation of PBIS its programming.12.Works collaboratively with staff associated with CONNECT and RISE Programs to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed by each involved student. 13.Assist building administration with the evaluation of Instructional Assistants associated with CONNECT and RISE programs.14.On a rotating basis with other staff members and administrators, monitors student lunch blocks to ensure that all handbook policies are being followed and students are not entering or leaving without permission. 15.Participates in professional development opportunities sponsored by the District that will enhance ability to perform the duties of the position. 16.Works cooperatively with all students, parents, agencies, or other individuals that relate with the school in efforts to strengthen home school and community-school relationships.17.Participates in Restraint Training; become certified in its implementation and maintain the ability to implement restraint techniques; be familiar with regulations related to restraint use.18.Conduct other staff duties and responsibilities as directed by the principal, including attending meetings as requested or required by the principal or attending and participating in community meetings and working with community organizations, and any other staff function required by the principal.
