New North is Hiring a Digital Graphic Designer Near FREDERICK, MD

You understand that good creative is the "it" factor behind successful marketing. You've probably always enjoyed designing and appreciate good design in everything from the websites you visit to your favorite coffee cup.

You landed in the marketing industry because it's the perfect place to practice your craft and test your skills in the real world. You create designs for a purpose - landing pages that keep visitors engaged and advertisements that people can't help but to click. Good design is a combination of art, science, and a surprising amount of psychology.

It's not that you think design is a nice-to-have. Poor design frustrates you. "It's good enough" is a four-letter word.

You love being a part of a team that values good creative and knows that the best marketing requires craftsmen and craftswomen from a variety of specialties.

Your plan for your career is to become a creative director one day.

We are looking for someone to blow the doors off our design work.

We offer competitive compensation, benefits, etc., but we know you want more.

If this sounds like you, we should meet.

IF YOU LOVE...

  • creating designs (primarily digital) that makes a real impact to marketing performance,
  • aligning designs to focus on the right audience and message for the given context,
  • proving to unbelievers that the creative side of marketing isn't "fluff", it leads to demonstrable results,
  • working alongside other specialists (copywriters, strategists, etc.) to product digital assets that prospects can't ignore,
  • working with organizations to determine their brand,
  • and developing designs that provoke action and response,

... then this is the. position for you! You are the go-to resource for all things brand and design - everything from brand workshops to creating irresistible website designs.

WHAT YOU HAVE PROBABLE DONE...

  • have an excellent design portfolio with over a dozen sites under your belt,
  • worked as a designer (preferable in the agency world) for 4 years,
  • created striking visuals for a variety of advertisements (social ads, paid search ads, etc.)
  • dipped your toe into the development world enough to know when a design will keep a developer up at night (but wouldn't call yourself a designer),
  • created designs for assets from postcards to ebooks to vehicle wraps,
  • used the Adobe Suite so much that it's an extension of your body (like a peg-leg, but more useful).

A DAY IN THE LIFE...

9 am -Arrive at the office in beautiful downtown Frederick, grab a cup of freshly roasted coffee, and have a laugh or two with the team.

10 am -Have our daily all-hands meeting with the team.Great work is accomplished through collaboration.

11 am –You walked a client through a new website template you were part of creating (which they loved). Afterward, you and the team bounce additional ideas off each other, and you can't wait to see the template come to life when it's developed.

12 pm -Lunch outside on our porch where you get to know others on the team a bit more.

1 pm -You sit with the content developer and spin up a few ad variations that we needed a quick turnaround on. You leave confident that they will really engage with the client's audience and can't wait to see the results.

2 pm– You jump on a call with a contractor to talk through a whitepaper design they are working on. You walk through an outline you had put together previously to guide the conversation and clarify a few points of confusion in a bit more detail.

3 pm -You sit down to design a new infographic that you think could win a few awards. You wrap it up excited because you know the client will love it.

4 pm -The whole team comes together, and we have our weekly meeting. We talk big picture, review client feedback, and work through a few issues that popped up throughout the week.

5:30 pm -You wrap up some loose ends on a logo variation you were working on and head home after what seemed like a fast and productive day.

But every day is not the same. Other days include big logo pitches, deep thinking, or more brainstorming. Your day is all about driving the quality of our creative product to a new level.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING...

  • A $70,000 to $80,000 salary. The more experience you have, the closer you will be to the upper-end.
  • Health, dental, and vision.
  • Flexible schedules that account for being a human being.
  • Cool, creative office space located in downtown Frederick MD,
  • A team that is on a mission and loves to create good work.
  • A chance to be a part of something big.

Note: This is not a fully remote role, although hybrid is an option. The best collaborative tools still can't replicate some in-person collaboration. Plus, there is something about spending time with teammates face-to-face that makes work more enjoyable. Call us crazy.
