New Mexico Junior College is Hiring a Head Coach Women's Track Near Hobbs, NM

The Head Coach for Women's Track shall report to the Director of Athletics. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to recruit high character student athletes that represent NMJC through the reflection of leading with character, follow with humility and compete with grit.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to organize team practices, weight training and conditioning plans that best prepare NMJC athletes for NJCAA level competitions.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to schedule a fall, spring and pre-season season schedules as needed within the NJCAA by-laws and game limitations.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to be knowledgeable in the areas of NJCAA by-laws, NJCAA Region 5 and Western Junior College Athletic Conference rules and guidelines and the NIRA if applicable.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to organize and maintain an operating budget that is provided to the program per the direction of the NMJC Board of Regents. Spending within these budget parameters is expected protocol. Following all of the purchasing procedures and protocols established within the NMJC Employee Handbook will be expected.
  • The head women’s track and field coach is expected to provide academic advice to student-athletes in a degree plan that fits the preparation and career path of each individual. This plan is directed to the ultimate goal of each student-athlete graduating from New Mexico Junior College with an AA, AS degree or certificate.
  • The head women’s track and field coach is expected to manage the maintenance and upkeep of the complex, facility or field. This management program will include communication between the Athletic Director to allow for necessary improvements and repairs required for the upkeep of a first-class facility.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to provide leadership that cultivates attitudes of discipline and guidance among the student-athletes. Management of discipline and correction will follow the NMJC Student Handbook and the NMJC Student-Athlete Handbook.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to plan, organize and execute the required NMJC documentation for team travel. This includes the management of post travel documentation and reconciliation. 
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to schedule and secure officials for all home contest.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to fulfill their duties for the institution on the roles of working committees and faculty expectations as needed.
  • The head women’s track and field will be expected to organize and engage the team in community service activities during both the fall and spring semesters of the academic year. This engagement will cultivate relationships with the community to enhance the vision that NMJC is the Communities College! These services would include the implementation of sports camps that NMJC athletes can assist in.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to incorporate engagement with campus resources to enhance student success, safety and overall welfare.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to assist in the management and growth of the program as it falls in line with the NMJC Athletic Strategic Plan.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will assist the Director of Athletics in the selection of the assistant women’s track and field coach. This selection process will follow all of the hiring guidelines established by the Human Resources department and the expectations of the NMJC Board of Regents. 
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to complete all assigned professional development from the institution. The completion of these assignments will have term dates that will be expected to be met.
  • The head women’s track and field coach will be expected to complete all task and assignments stated in this job description within the 12-month contract time frame. Building team rosters that meet the institutions expectations and completing the necessary paperwork for student-athlete admission will be essential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Successful community college coaching experience preferred. Applicant must be committed to excellence in coaching.

This is a twelve-month exempt position. Salary is based on the NMJC staff salary schedule and is commensurate with education and experience. Standard Employee benefits apply. The full pay range for this position is $84,832.00 to $123,585.00This position is scheduled to commence on July 1, 2024.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
