Overview:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide essential care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure the safety of individuals
- Support individuals in participating in community activities and social events
- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals, promoting their independence and self-determination
- Maintain accurate documentation of individual progress and any incidents that occur
Experience:
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with resident rights and regulations pertaining to care facilities
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility as needed
- Experience in providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Knowledge of patient care principles, including hospice care, is a plus
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships
- Patience, empathy, and compassion for individuals with disabilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly
