Position Summary: The Physics Department at New Jersey Institute of Technology(NJIT) is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at theassistant professor level. The successful candidate will be an experimentalistwho can develop an independent research program, teach undergraduate andgraduate physics and electromagnetics courses, and collaborate with otherFaculty in the Department. NJIT is a state's public polytechnic university,classified among the "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very high researchactivity". NJIT ranked #2 among public universities and #19 among allnational universities in its 'List of the Best Colleges in the U.S.' for 2024,according to the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse national ranking.
Candidates from a broad range of areas of experimental terahertz science, imaging, communications, and non-destructive evaluation are invited to apply. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with ongoing terahertz-related research in the department as well as to develop their own research program.
Essential Functions: The successful candidate will be an experimentalist who can develop an independent research program, teach undergraduate and graduate physics and electromagnetics courses, and collaborate with other Faculty in the Department.
Prerequisite Qualifications: - The candidate must have a strong track record of high impactpublications, must have completed at least one postdoctoral position and becapable of attracting external funding.
- The NJIT Physics department has twofaculty members working in terahertz science and technology. The department hastwo strong graduate programs (applied physics program and interdisciplinarymaterials science program) with more than 70 graduate students working in areasincluding terahertz spectroscopy and imaging, nanomaterials, additivemanufacturing/3D printing, sensors, and materials characterization.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experienceprerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to thesatisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education andexperience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
