Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and Experience, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Rutgers University Registrar, the Rutgers University-Newark Registrar is directly responsible for the management of all functions of the Rutgers University-Newark Registrar's Office, including general responsibility for the integrity and security of student academic data and the effectiveness and efficiency of the registration systems and processes. The Registrar plays a critical role in helping shape the enrollment and retention efforts of the campus through collaboration and leadership. This is achieved through institutional research and data compilation; addressing appropriate technology needs; and providing a vision to adapt to changing environments, technology, policies, legislation, and the needs of the students. This position requires the Registrar to think and act strategically.This position is responsible for and not limited to the following: The core responsibilities of the Registrar include course registration and enrollments, recording grades and grade changes, implementation of residency requirements, ensuring the integrity of the University transcript (including production and distribution), certifying and updating enrollment status and completion of degrees, overseeing the academic calendar, and preparing and managing appropriate commencement records and documents The Registrar is accountable for the security, integrity, and accuracy of academic records and the coordination and implementation of federal, state, University system and institutional laws, policies and procedures The Registrar position is also responsible for office oversight and maintenance of professional standards, including budget authority as well as the hiring, training and professional development, supervision and evaluation of the Registrar's staff The individual in this position works as the undergraduate and graduate registrar and collaborates with the academic deans, department chairs, faculty and staff in all academic units and with the registrars of New Jersey Institute of Technology and Essex County College and other partner institutions of higher education to facilitate cross-registration with these institutions The Registrar is responsible for communication and consultation with the entire campus in order to build and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students and the external community Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.
