Group Home Manager

Oversees the daily operating function of the group home to ensure that it operates safely and within the guidelines of New Horizons Center policies and the Division of the Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Responsible for the Members of the home which includes:

  • Preparing for and attending all ISP meetings.
  • In cooperation with the Residential Director, maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians, DDD Support Coordinators, and therapists as needed.
  • Conduct weekly Client File Audits to maintain accurate, complete and comprehensive client files.
  • Ensure all applicable regulations/standards are always adhered to.
  • Report, process, and follow up on all incident reports immediately and make all necessary notifications.
  • Ensure members personal belongings, wheelchairs, and equipment is clean and ready for use.
  • Ensure members are clean, well-groomed, and dressed (age appropriately, correctly for the season, and environmental conditions.)
  • Ensure daily that members are being emotionally and physically stimulated to the best of their ability.
  • Attendance when client is taken to ER/Hospital.
  • Perform all duties following safety standards required for this position including, but not limited to, use of PPE’s (Personal Protective Equipment; i.e., gloves).

Responsible for Employees which includes:

  • Developing, distributing, and revising the staffing schedule for group home personnel.
  • Ensuring proper client to staff ratio.
  • Ensuring all group home staff accurately complete the required shift documentation daily.
  • Train, coach, guide and discipline all new employees.
  • Abide by and support all company directives, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff adhere to and follow all company directives and policy and procedures.
  • Attend training sessions required by the company, including manager meetings.

Responsible for the Group Home which includes:

  • Being flexible in hours worked to assist with shift coverage if needed.
  • Weekly walk through of the home.
  • Send weekly home update to Residential Director.
  • Ensure that the home is ready for surveys and monitoring.
  • Be present at all group home surveys and monitoring to assist the Program during the survey/monitoring.

Responsible for maintaining Group Home Budgets which include:

  • Grocery shopping.
  • Management of Client Funds.
  • Management of Petty Cash Funds.
  • Submitting work orders on time.
  • Monitoring OTC Cards.
  • Submitting ledgers to appropriate supervisor on time.

. Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or guidance and counseling. Minimal education requirement - High school diploma.
  • Three years of experience related to training programs for members with developmental disabilities are preferred. Such experience may be in conjunction with or beyond academic training.
  • Thorough knowledge of training program concepts and fundamentals of developmental disabilities. General knowledge of community resources, assessment instruments and their administration, and report writing procedures.
  • Must be able to lift twenty-five (50) pounds without assistance. This position may require lifting/moving fifty (50) pounds several times a day on a daily basis. Must be able to physically perform CPR and other First Aid skills. Must be able to physically implement Prevention & Support Techniques. Must be physically able to stoop, bend, twist, reach, stretch, and be on one’s feet for extended periods.
  • Must be able to drive New Horizons vehicles in a safe and careful manner, following all Arizona Department of Transportation laws, as well as applicable New Horizons Administrative Policies. Must maintain an Arizona Class D driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Notifies the Human Resources Department of any infractions/suspensions affecting driver's license. (Loss of ability to be an authorized New Horizons driver will affect eligibility for position and may result in a re-assignment or demotion.)
  • Must work a flexible work week. This may include before and after “core hours” workdays and weekends, and coverage for co-workers on leave.
