Job Summary
In the absence of a Team Supervisor, the Team Leader supervises and maintains the residential milieu. The Team Leader is responsible for the immediate supervision of Residential Counselors (including pool and part-time staff) assigned to their shift. The unique job functions outlined are designed with a focus on safety and quality.
Essential Functions
Assures that all residents’ treatment plans are being followed.
Ensures that rules, regulations, policies and procedures are followed and/or carried out by direct care staff. Pays particular attention to the proper implementation of motivational interviewing, charting in resident records, proper completion of Incident Reports, and adherence to formal Resident Daily Schedule.
Provides direct resident care as necessary for other staff to receive breaks or to maintain safe resident observation levels.
Receives shift change report from off-going shift and gives shift change report to on-coming shift.
Makes staff-resident assignments and ensures completion of other staff duties per the Team Supervisor checklist.
Maintains awareness of the whereabouts of staff and residents through regular rounds and resident/staff counts throughout the shift.
Ensures that staff-to-resident assignments are changed as needed so that all residents are correctly supervised throughout the shift.
Assists in restraining aggressive residents when necessary.
Makes entries as required in the communication book and as necessary in the resident record.
Serves as an appropriate role model to both direct care staff and residents.
Additional Responsibilities
Performs other related duties as required.
Has knowledge of and insists upon the provision of the rights of children/adolescents as residents in this facility.
Demonstrates an understanding of child and adolescent developmental issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent with one (1) years experience in behavioral healthcare or a Bachelor Degree in a related field.
