It is our expectation that each employee will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be a minimum of 18 years old. The Personal Care Aide (PC) must have the ability to read, write, possess good communication skills, and be honest, trustworthy, and dependable. Our Company is a drug free agency; if requested, the employee must be able to demonstrate that they are drug free. There are no pre-employment educational requirements, but Certified Nurse Assistant and/or Care-aide experience is preferred. Completion of a minimum of twenty hours of orientation to the agency, classroom training and on-the-job training is required for a Personal Care Aide or a CNA at Our Company. You must attend orientation and the eight hours of personal care training prior to your first shift within the facility. After this initial training, you will receive on-the-job training as well as additional classroom training. Waiver of a portion of this training may be allowed if you have had previous training that is deemed adequate by your supervisor as set forth under the Medicaid regulation. To maintain your Personal Care Aide status, you must faithfully attend the monthly staff meetings and training programs.

DUTIES

  • Tidying, dusting, sweeping and/or vacuuming, and mopping floors in the facility and in the resident’s rooms.
  • Cleaning bathroom fixtures: washing inside windows and cleaning Venetian blinds, that are within reach without climbing; bagging trash to dispose of.
  • Laundering clothes and linen
  • Correspondence—reading writing for the impaired.
  • Washing walls and woodwork, shampooing rugs, airing mattresses and bedding.
  • Personal Care Services are intended to meet personal physical requirements, as opposed to general housekeeping requirements and to meet needs that cannot be met by other resources.
  • Make beds and/or change sheets for the residents, as required.
  • Give baths or assist with bathing; brush teeth/ clean dentures; brush, comb and shampoo hair.
  • Shave with electric or safety razor; cut and clean nails (except diabetic clients)
  • Help dress and undress when necessary; assist to and from toilet
  • Assist with and encourage residents in ways to become self-sufficient in personal care.
  • Cleaning the floor and furniture in areas not occupied by the resident.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing supervisors with all necessary information to keep his/her employee file accurate, complete and current. (I.e., copies of certifications (if applicable), previous work and experience and skills, and health records as requested in-service/training tests etc.)
  • The Care-Aide is accountable to the Our Company’s Directors/Supervisors and must maintain excellent communication with the Supervisors.
  • The Care-aide is responsible for adequately notifying Supervisors in advance of inability to fulfill assigned client schedule. (See employee handbook for more information) approved forms. And proper submission of paperwork in a timely manner to Supervisors.
  • Attending orientation and staff development meetings/ Face-to-face (in-services.)
  • Reporting for assignments in proper professional attire, including identification badge.
  • Practicing safely and competently within job description. Missouri Practice Act Laws and complying with Division of Aging and Our Company’s policies. Providing competent skills by adhering to current standards of personal care procedures when performing tasks as written in current fundamentals of nursing textbook and Our Company’s manual found in the Offices of each facility and as taught in orientation training.
  • Keeping Our Company’s Supervisors informed of residents changes and needs.
  • Immediately communicating with facility supervisors of problems and concerns.
  • Keeping communication open by utilizing the COMMUNICATION LOG and NURSES NOTES on each resident and situation.
  • Maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Demonstrate courteous, respectful, and cooperative behavior with residents, their families. and co-workers.
  • Following universal precautions and infection control procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Other Training, Skills, and Experience Requirements: Employee must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other departments.

Other Considerations and Requirements: Employee may be asked to perform other duties not listed above. Such duties will be within the scope of the employee’s training and ability. The employer reserves the right to modify this job description based upon the company needs.
