Job Summary:

A New Hope Academy teacher is responsible for teaching, leading, and nurturing students in PreK-Sixth grade so they may flourish academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The classroom teacher works with the Associate Head of School, instructional coaches, colleagues, parents, and staff members to accomplish grade-level and school-wide goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Effectively plan learning experiences that help each student achieve curriculum objectives.
• Mentoring/Disciplining each student with a nurturing heart.
• Develop each student’s love for learning.
• Manage the class by setting clear behavior expectations, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline based on biblical principles.
• Apply biblical principles and comply with school policy in administering behavioral discipline in the classroom.
• Evaluate each student’s progress regularly and communicate this progress to the student, parents, and administrators.
• Ensure that the facility and equipment of the classroom are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Articulate the mission and vision of the school.
• Actively involve parents and other members in the life of the school.
• Exemplify and articulate a saving and growing relationship with Christ.
• Proactively adjust lesson plans to meet each student’s needs.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records, including attendance, report cards, grades, and parent communication.
• Attend and participate in scheduled department meetings, general faculty meetings, retreats, in-services, and professional development.
• Works constructively with colleagues and administrators.
• Other related duties as assigned by the Associate Head of School and Head of School

Minimum Qualifications

· Personal relationship with Jesus Christ

· Teaching degree and certificate

· Commitment to the mission and vision of New Hope Academy

· Commitment to academic excellence

· Ability and desire to work with a diverse group of individuals

· Composition and language skills in technical and persuasive writing applications

· Proficient use of computers, including e-mail and Microsoft Office

· Excellent presentation and communication skills

· A passion for educating students in a diverse Christian environment

· Commitment to lifelong learning.

· Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry materials to and from the classroom.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $39,262.89 - $47,284.34 per year
