JOB SUMMARY
Under supervisory direction consistent with New Haven policies, practices, and guidelines and in coordination with the referring county’s identified goals, the CBS case manager is responsible for delivering specified services (case management, therapy and crisis management) to assigned youth and their families.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares written treatment plans and/or functional analysis of behaviors that incorporates goals for the client of referring county.
Provides individual and family therapy as well as crisis management to clients and caregivers, remaining available, via telephone, for crisis calls 24 hours/day.
Provides updates, per agency and county requirements, of client’s progress to referring county’s case manager(s), therapist(s) and school(s) and attends related treatment team and/or IEP meetings to report on client and family’s progress towards meeting treatment goals.
Accurately documents progress of client and caregiver immediately following each session, as well as completes and meets all departmental documentation/billing deadlines.
Seeks and provides community referrals to client(s) and their family as needed.
Maintains professional boundaries and fosters positive, professional relationships with fellow workers, visitors, clients, customers and other associated outside agencies, representing both New Haven’s and the placement agency’s interests’ favorably and in compliance with all applicable legal, contractual, regulatory and agency procedural requirements.
Adhere to all CBS regulations and guidelines as established in New Haven’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to, reporting all emergencies and/or clinical concerns to supervisor and all suspected child/elder abuse to appropriate state agencies.
May perform other duties as deemed necessary for the fulfillment of program requirements and objectives.
Qualifications
Doctorate or M.A/M.S degree in the related field and be able to provide therapy under California’s Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology guidelines. At least one year experience with children with serious emotional or behavioral problems is preferred.
Skills:
Must be able to interact well and provide direction to others, using discretion and good judgment relative to behavioral interventions and skills.
Must be able to understand and demonstrate best practices relative to behavioral interventions and professional boundaries, communicating, and following agency rules and directions from CBS Supervisor.
Must be highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people and must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills to professionally document clinical notes and client records that meets New Haven and Medi-Cal standards.

Must be able to work independently.
Must have good driving record and willingness to handle flexible hours, extensive travel within Southern CA counties (primarily San Diego, Orange, Riverside Counties) and varying assignments.
Must be able to utilize and successfully operate computer programs with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to accept constructive criticism and to contribute professionally in an environment free of harassment and without unlawful discrimination.
Must be able to work with behaviorally challenging client(s) and stressful situations, without causing danger or disruption to others.
