New Era Underground is looking for a reliable HDD (Horizontal Directional Drill) locator. Duties include planning, installing and maintaining piping systems in industrial and residential properties. The HDD locator will be responsible for reviewing blueprints, planning, installing, and maintaining piping and conduit systems and related equipment.
To be successful as an HDD locator you should have ample experience in HDD equipment and its operations. Also installing pipe systems according to specifications. Ultimately, a great HDD locator has excellent mechanical and mathematical skills, the ability to read grade and curvature of HDD bore paths. And a good understanding of the requirements and precautions necessary for working with and around live underground utilities, equipment and systems.
HDD Locator Responsibilities:
Transporting equipment to and from job sites
Loading and unloading of HDD equipment
Preventative maintenance of HDD equipment and related supporting equipment (i.e. trucks, trailers, mud mixing systems, and tooling)
Ability to efficiently operate DCI locating equipment and its components
Knowledge of proper drilling clearance of existing utilities
Ability to walk out bore plan with inspectors, city engineers, and pipeline safety representatives
Working together with HDD operator to safely complete operations
Following all company and contractor safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment requirements
HDD Locator Requirements:
High school diploma/GED.
Trade school education or apprenticeship.
Class A CDL with tank endorsement/or ability to obtain.
Proven experience as a HDD Locator.
Excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to prioritize and maintain strong attention to detail.
Good communication and managerial skills.
Physical dexterity.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
