NEW ENGLAND TRACTOR TRAILER TRAINING SCHOOL is Hiring a Student Services Advisor Near Pawtucket, RI

Provides record keeping, administrative support and information for students and colleagues from enrollment through post-graduation and licensure. Collects fees and tracks progress. Maintains student files in accordance with compliance and accreditation requirements. The position involves handling a variety of tasks simultaneously while providing high levels of service and working both accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Interacts with students, visitors and other staff in a welcoming, friendly and professional manner; determines their needs for assistance; provides information and makes referrals as appropriate.

  • Utilizes computer-based record keeping and student information system; enters data, maintains accuracy, looks up information.
  • Audits and maintains student files in accordance with compliance and accreditation requirements.
  • Performs data entry, record keeping and generates reports related to enrollments, registration, payments, attendance, progress, grades, graduation, licensure, road time and related student status information.
  • Collects tuition payments from students and posts to their accounts.
  • Supports other departments by notifying them of issues related to attendance, course completion, grades and other factors that may impact a student’s success.
  • Answers phones and either provides information if known or transfers to the appropriate person/department; greets visitors to the Campus.
  • Creates and maintains documentation and student files in accordance with compliance requirements; contacts students to obtain necessary/missing information.
  • Works with the Director of Training and Safety to schedule registry (permit and licensure) testing.
  • Advises students about make up time or repeated courses needed to fulfill graduation requirements, ensures report cards are signed and completes and files related forms for documentation of student assistance.
  • Assists with compiling and providing information to students such as 3rd party referrals for housing/transportation/health/community benefits and programs as needed.
  • Maintains inventory, orders office supplies, receives and distributes mail; processes outgoing (physical) mail.
  • Assists Registrar as needed (special projects, etc.)
  • Assists and shares workload as needed with other staff in the administrative department.
  • Set appointments for new CDL students for permit testing at DMV.

Qualifications for the Job:

  • At least one year’s working experience in an administrative or clerical capacity that includes data entry, record maintenance and customer service.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Enjoys and able to provide friendly, courteous and professional customer service to a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions while performing detailed tasks and maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Computer literacy including MS Office and cloud-based systems.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic financial calculations and transactions
  • Must be able to follow instructions in adherence to educational compliance regulations (training will be provided)

Job Type:

Full-time, Non-exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Work does not involve any supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

Very occasional travel to a workshop, training, or other NETTTS campus. No overnight travel is anticipated.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in person, by phone and by email. Must be able to bend, stretch, reach and carry files. Must be able lift up and carry up to 10 lbs. Must have the eyesight at a level adequate to efficiently and accurately perform manual record keeping, computer data entry and filing tasks. Spends prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
