**ASSISTANT TO MUSEUM STORE MANAGER (WEBSITE FOCUS)** , *MIT Museum* , to ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all Museum visitors, assist store customers with selecting merchandise, operate a POS cash register, and act as a keyholder with responsibility for independently opening and/or closing the store. Responsibilities include store security, sales, and cash distribution and reconciliation; routinely reviewing web sales for the performance of products on offer; uploading new items to site after consultation with the manager and researching product information and imagery; monitoring daily web sales and preparing them for fulfillment; overseeing and assisting fulfillment by staff and ensuring the timely processing of web orders; reconciling transactions; and handling customer inquiries for information.

Job Requirements

*REQUIRED* : high school diploma or its equivalent; three years' retail experience; detailed knowledge of and experience with managing web content and web sales; understanding of basic merchandising principles; ability to prioritize tasks for self and temporary staff, understand and evaluate replenishment and similar reports for stock level maintenance, and work quickly and accurately while paying close attention to detail in an ever-changing environment; and proficiency with POS cash register operations and standard business software (e.g., Excel and Word). Seek someone with excellent communication skills and who enjoys working with the public. The working conditions include standing for extended periods of time; regularly and repeatedly lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.; operating a pallet jack; ascending ladders; bending, crouching, and kneeling; and maneuvering about a crowded stockroom. *PREFERRED* : experience with museum, retail, or hospitality venues. **Job #20762-4**
