Job Position:
Machine Shop Helper
Compensation:
$18 - $25 per hour

Responsibilities:

● Reports to the President and Shop Manager
● Providing assistance to experienced machinists and machine operators in setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery and equipment.
● Preparing materials for machining, which may involve cutting, shaping, or measuring materials according to specified dimensions and requirements.
● Maintaining a clean and organized work environment by cleaning machines, tools, and work areas regularly.
● Assisting with the routine maintenance and basic repairs of machines and equipment.
● Ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are in place and in working condition.
● Actively learning and acquiring knowledge about machining techniques, tool usage, safety procedures, and shop practices through on-the-job training and mentorship.
● Performing general tasks to support the smooth operation of the machine shop, such as organizing tools, managing inventory, and assisting with paperwork.
● Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
● Collaborating with team members and communicating effectively to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Valid Driver’s License.
● Demonstrate interest or aptitude in mechanical or technical work.
● Understanding of machinery and tools is beneficial.
● Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods of time, and perform physically demanding tasks.
● Ability to pay close attention to details and accurately follow instructions and guidelines to produce high-quality work.
● Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, following instructions and contributing to group goals.
● Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks and projects within the machine shop.
● Being punctual and reliable in attendance and performance, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
● Displaying a positive attitude, enthusiasm for work, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
