Lead Timberframe Builder (Champion)

McMinnville, OR

Pay Range: $30-$35 Hourly

We’re looking for a Lead Timberframe Builder (Champion) to join our passionate and creative team in McMinnville, OR. This leadership role is a craft-focused and detail-oriented position working with heavy timber construction both in our shop during production as well as on site during installation. Travel out of town or longer commutes should be expected for this role roughly 12-16 weeks of the year with generous out of town pay increase.

Required Experience:

· Ability to effectively read and understand layout and building plans.

· 5 years construction experience as a lead is essential. Timber framing is a plus.

· Traveling with crew to lead assembly and installation of timber frames.

· Ability to run jobsite equipment and various machinery

· Jobsite safety to include working on elevated surfaces, tying off, etc.

· Working with traditional hand tools (chisel, mallets, etc.) and power tools (skill saw, belt sander, power drill, etc.).

· Distressing or sanding timbers. Cutting and cleaning/squaring joinery on timber.

Preferred Experience:

· Extensive experience in residential and commercial construction.

· Seasoned Carpenter, Framer or extensive woodworking experience.

· Ability to use portable and stationary power tools with confidence.

· Familiarity or aptitude with CNC and CAD.

· Ability to see the big picture and be a problem-solving master.

For Pay Transparence: Compensation Description (annually or hourly)

The base salary range for this position is $30 - $35 Hourly.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Reports To: Production Manager

Overview –

This leadership role is a craft-focused and detail-oriented position working with heavy timber construction both in our shop during production as well as on site during installation. Travel out of town or longer commutes should be expected for this role roughly 12-16 weeks of the year.

Duties include supporting production and quality control of timber frame through production phase -- cutting mortise and tenon joints, surfacing and finishing timbers, moving material with various machinery, creating timber bundling documentation for shipment. Coordination with project managers and shop engineers throughout the production phase is key as well as communication with site contractors and/or homeowners in preparation of installation.

Once frame is packed and shipped, champions travel with a team to lead raising of timber frames on-site. Tasks include truss assembly and raising of rafters, posts and beams, coordination with heavy equipment including cranes, telehandlers, and forklifts. Must have the ability to assess onsite issues and resolve them quickly to ensure timely completion of the project. Be a leader and guide a team to achieve their potential.

Equipment & Vehicles:

· Must have/ maintain a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

· Maintain proper operation and cleanliness of company vehicles, tools, and other equipment.

· Reporting of any issues with company vehicles or equipment to direct supervisor.

· Manage company tools/ equipment on-site and on-campus.

· Must be or be able to be qualified in forklift operations.

Safety & Compliance:

· Knowledge of OSHA standards (10 hour preferred)

· Ability to ensure a safe, clean, and professional jobsite.

· Knowledge and implementation of best builder practices for all assigned project scopes.

· Comply with all New Energy Works policies and codes of conduct.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
