New Discovery School

Our Mission: New Discovery School is a play-based preschool that nurtures the whole child. We foster confident, joyful learners by building a strong and inclusive community of children, families, and teachers.

This teaching position is for a Temporary (MARCH 18 - APRIL 22nd) (Co-Lead Teacher or an Assistant teacher for our afternoon program).

Our school has a very strong focus on learning through play, the arts, and social-emotional/anti-bias education, so interested candidates must possess skills in these areas or be willing to learn. We are searching for a creative, nurturing, professional educator who collaborates well with other teachers.

Responsibilities include: joyfully interacting with children, planning with co-teacher, implementation of school curriculum (planned and emergent), weekly communication with families, authentic observation and documentation of each child through the school year (we have a light touch with the documentation), weekly staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and taking 10 hours professional development each year (NDS pays for it). We roughly follow the Seattle Public School schedule.

• Mantoux tuberculin skin test (Required)
• CPR Certification/First Aid-Child Adult (Required)
• 2 years experience working with children (Required)
