New Covenant Academy is Hiring a Nurse, Part-time Near Springfield, MO

DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
NCA is a Christian School serving grades Jr. K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian school committed to Academic Excellence, Biblical Truth Christ-like character"
New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time, ten-month-a-year Nurse. Working days are Monday through Friday and the specific hours vary. The individual will work at New Covenant Academy’s three campus locations, but will primarily have an office out of Liberty Campus, NCA’s intermediate and middle school at 3581 S. Kansas Ave., Springfield, MO.
JOB SUMMARY
The school nurse will assist building administrators in providing each student the fullest opportunity to receive a quality education by minimizing absences due to illness, providing nursing care during the school day, and creating a climate of health and well-being in school. The nurse will report to the assigned administrator. Coverage at the main Warrior campus will be expected when needed.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This is an hourly position, TBD based on experience and training. There is a pro-ration of tuition assistance for the nurse’s qualifying children to attend New Covenant Academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the school health office, including the maintenance of school health records, immunizations, screenings, medication administration, and health conditions.
  • Provide a system for prevention and control of communicable diseases.
  • Manage a safe medication administration program within the guidelines of Physician Standing Orders.
  • Assess, plan, and implement age-appropriate screening programs and provide follow-up for identified health needs.
  • Contact families/emergency contacts in the event of serious illness, injury, or medical emergencies.
  • Staff education on administration of emergency medications while students are off campus and maintaining emergency bags for field trips
  • Files accident reports and forwards to HR as necessary. 8. Maintains monthly AED compliance checks.
  • Documents all nursing assessments and care for students and staff.
  • Act as liaison between home, school, and community health care providers.
  • Collaborate with community resources to meet the needs of children.
  • Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary and safety standards in school.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the assigned principal
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All job requirements listed indicate the mandatory (M) or desired (D) knowledge, skills and/or abilities deemed necessary to perform the job proficiently. KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current RN/LPN License with a minimum of 3 years nursing experience
  • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in the methods, techniques and procedures used in nursing practice.
  • Current CPR certification
  • A sincere desire to work with others in a caring and diplomatic manner and exhibit excellent communication skills
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Basic math skills.
  • Compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions.
  • Ability to analyze issues and create action plans.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and changing work priorities.
  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Excel, and RenWeb.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stoop or bend, respond to emergency situations in a timely manner at any location on school property, including playground, and practice fields, and to perform CPR on students or adults.
