New Covenant Academy is Hiring an Extended Care Supervisor Part-time Near Springfield, MO

JOB POSTING: EXTENDED CARE SUPERVISOR
PART-TIME, 10 MONTH POSITION, COORDINATES THREE CAMPUS LOCATIONS, Warrior Campus 3304 S. Cox Ave., Liberty Campus 3581 S. Kansas Ave., and Jr. K. Campus 3801 S. Kansas Ave.
NCA is a Christian College Preparatory School serving grades Jr. K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian school committed to Academic Excellence, Biblical Truth, and Christ-like character".
JOB SUMMARY
New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Extended Child Care Services Supervisor for the before & after program offered to students in grades Jr.K-8. Duties include the following:
Organize, plan, and supervise a program that will:
  • Provide a safe atmosphere for all children, including being aware of all safety protocols, and taking the lead (with support from the Elementary Principal) in any emergency that may occur during extended care hours of operation.
  • Provide a variety of flexible activities during the Extended Care hours of operation.
  • Manage supplies, toys, and equipment and report on their condition, and/or need to re-supply to the Elementary Principal.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen staff to provide snacks for the afternoon at three campuses.
  • Keep accurate records of those attending Extended Care.
  • Maintain controls on the arrival and departure of children attending Extended Care, according to school policy.
  • Report time charges for Extended Care as requested by the Business Office.
  • Provide records as required.
  • Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of parents.
  • Manage and create the work schedule of extended care workers for coverage at three campuses.
  • Assure sufficient staffing, and in the case of last-minute schedule changes (ie; staff sick call-in, or staff shift cancellation) assure a replacement is scheduled for coverage. This may require some after-hour management (via phone or email).
  • Evaluate the job performance of extended care workers, in collaboration with the Extended Care Manager.
  • Assist with the recruiting of extended care workers.
  • Assist with the training of extended care workers.
Ideal hours for the Supervisor will vary slightly based on the campus location but generally runs on days that school is in session between the hours of 6:15 a.m. to the start of school (8:15 a.m.) and in the afternoon 2:30 p.m. or 1:30 on early dismissal Fridays (30 minutes before school dismissal time) to 6:15 p.m. (or some occasional after hours of having to find a worker to fill an upcoming shift, or for your own professional development). There is some flexibility in these hours, TBD on the interview. Currently this position is shared between two people, and we can be open to maintaining the same shared structure or assigning a single individual to the role for the right candidate. This position starts on the first week in August (for professional development and planning). The school year begins on August 19, 2024, and ends on May 22, 2025. Note: Extended Care Child Services are not offered on days when the school is closed or operates on a half-day for professional development (there are 3 of those days on the school calendar), therefore workers are not scheduled on those days.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Extended Care Supervisor may be a college student (preferably with a minimum of 60 college credit hours in education) or an adult who has the experience and a desire and calling to work with young people. The Extended Care Worker must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ, and have experience in counseling methods and/or education.
The Extended Care Worker must:
1. Fulfill the general qualifications for employment at NCA.
2. Have previous experience in a child care setting is preferred.
3. A demonstrated love for children and a vibrant Christian testimony.
4. The ability to lead a variety of activities.
5. Greet parents in a friendly manner and communicate effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transport of objects (25-30lbs). Rarely, it may be necessary to lift to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHOOL SETTING
Fluorescent lit classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other areas where students may be.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This position is paid at an hourly rate beginning at $13.50 per hour. There are no medical or tuition benefits associated with this position.
