Watch Person Job Description

Summary:

This employee will oversee the Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Santa Maria and the Candlewood Suites,

Santa Maria. Within this responsibility the watch person will walk the exterior of the building and

interior corridors frequently throughout their shift and communicate any disturbances with the hotel

front desk of the city of Santa Maria Police Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Secure premises of both hotels and personnel by patrolling properties by foot, monitoring

surveillance equipment and access points to interior corridors and staircases.

2. Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior by completed detailed

Incident Reports and notifying management and the local police department.

3. Control traffic (if any) by directing drivers to hotel parking or available exits.

4. Inspect and patrol premises frequently and regularly

5. Monitor property entrances.

6. Verbally ask loiters to leave respectfully, but sternly and ask them not to return. Do not ever

make physical contact. Call Police if loiterers do not leave.

7. Authorize entrance of people and vehicles to hotel paying guests/employees only

8. Report any suspicious behaviors and happenings to Front Desk immediately.

9. Secure all exits, doors and windows each shift.

10. Respond to alarms and react in a timely manner

11. Provide assistance to people in need

12. Submit report of daily surveillance activity in a Daily Activity Report and include both hotel GM’s &

RDO

13. Report to each of the hotel front desks every hour.

14. Relieve each night auditor for a 30-minnutes lunch.

15. Notify management concerning need for any repairs or lighting in and outside of hotel.

16. Wear a provided maintenance uniform and nametag at all times on property.

Guest Areas and Exterior:

1. Clear exterior trash and empty property trash containers daily.

2.Sweep and clean sidewalks and stairs as needed (trash and weather related).

3.Clear debris from parking lot, landscaping, and dumpster area daily.

4.Ensure exterior building and grounds are clean and report to management if items can’t be completed.

5. Monitor furnace, air-conditioner and boiler systems to provide heat, cool air and hot water.

6. Monitor outdoor sprinkler systems and insure proper coverage and timing.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to bend at waist and work on knees if needed.

2. Ability to reach overhead.

3.Ability to stand for long periods.

4. Ability to walk four flights of stairs.

5.Ability to work outside in hot or cold weather.

6. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
