THE ROLE: 

  • This position will report to the: Manager 
  • Travel Requirement: None
  • FLSA Status Hourly Non-Exempt
  • Shift: 1st Shift
  • Employment Category: Internship - Temporary
  • Temporary Assignment: 9 -12 weeks tentatively starting May 27th, 2024
  • Pay Range: $18.00- $20.00

Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.

Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector. Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE 

Job Duties

  • Learn about the Food and Beverage manufacturing industry. 
  • Opportunity to work with multiple technical departments in manufacturing such as Electrical, Refrigeration, Automation, Maintenance and Engineering to execute high impact projects
  • Assist with research on new and existing projects.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and block diagrams.
  • Develop utility matrixes and system mass balances.
  • Gain exposure to industrial size manufacturing equipment
  • Gain exposure to AutoCAD and Inventor Design software tools
  • Receive intellectual and creative opportunities to tackle a problem and develop your own proposed solution.
  • Support major decision making.
  • Attend department meetings and develop action plans based on feedback.
  • Learn to collaborate and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Create a presentation on your internship experience, projects, and outcomes and present it to department leadership.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

Qualifications

  • You are available to work Summer 2024
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Ag, Packaging, or similar program 
  • Second year plus students preferred. 
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Good Computer & analytical skills (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Strong capabilities of working with people
  • Proven technical problem solver and ability to manage competing priorities. 
  • Collaborative team-player with a “roll-up your sleeves” approach
